PEMF – pulsed electromagnetic field – is an increasingly popular method of healthcare and health maintenance in the bucking stock industry. PEMF is a therapy that uses short bursts of low-level electromagnetic fields which deliver frequencies for the purpose of stimulating and rejuvenating cells. Research shows that blood circulation is improved and oxygen distribution is increased through PEMF therapy. These increases are said to lead to well oxygenated cells that are capable of detoxification, regeneration and cell reproduction. Healthily functioning cells enable the body to maintain health and to heal itself.

To get the latest information on PEMF, BST talked with Alane Paulley, President of Magna Wave, a company who has a specific orientation to the treatment of bucking stock. She answered some of the most frequently asked questions people have about PEMF therapy and the offerings of the Magna Wave company.

Read the statements from Magna Wave clients who are using PEMF for therapy on their bucking bulls located at the end of this article.

BST:  How long has your company been in business?

Paulley:  We have been in business since 2003. We are family owned and operated.

BST:  How long have you been serving clients in the bucking bull industry?

Paulley:  About 5 years ago, I was approached by one of our practitioners who was treating bucking bulls in Canada and that was the first time I had seen it done on bulls. Since then we have really started to grow in the industry.

BST:  Do you have any clients who are bucking horse people?

Paulley:  YES! We have practitioners from all walks of life but over the past 2 years we have sold machines to more and more bucking bull and rodeo people.   We have also started a Livestock training program for Magna Wave machine owners and practitioners and we expect to launch it this year.

BST:  Has there been a steady increase in the number of bucking bull people who have come to use PEMF?

Paulley:  YES, we have seen the market increase drastically as people realize how much Magna Wave benefits the bulls. Magna Wave has also seen an increase in bull riders using our machines.

PEMF uses a simple and noninvasive application of electromagnetic microwaves.

BST:  What are the non-medication and medical intervention benefits of PEMF?

Paulley:  The reports back are that stock contractors feel their bulls have a better performance when Magna Waved a day or two before an event.. Many of them reach out to us to use Magna Wave as a wellness program to keep their animals performing and feeling their best without (medical intervention).  Magna Wave Certified Practitioners who work with the bucking bulls have found that the machine helps with recovery after an injury or general soreness. Magna Wave is a natural way to help the animals feel and function at their best.  It can also help calm a nervous bull.

BST:  Is there a certification program and if so, what does it entail and what does it certify?

Paulley:  Yes Magna Wave offers a Certification Training course that covers humans, horses and small animals, and coming soon Livestock! The course is completed online, at your own pace, and is included with the purchase of a machine. We also offer hands-on training programs. The goal of our certification is to educate our practitioners to the fullest extent so they can work with any human or animal confidently.  We require continuing education classes for our practitioners every 2 years so they are up-to date on the latest information in the industry.  Our Certification program was the first of its kind in the United States and we have a group of more than 2,000 practitioners across the world. We all work together to share what we have learned and use this information to get the best results for our clients. Magna Wave’s program is board recognized by the AADP (American Association of Drugless Practitioners) and by working with a Magna Wave Certified Practitioner, you know you are getting an educated professional.

BST:  Is the use by veterinarians widespread or is limited to certain areas of the country?

Paulley:  Magna Wave is used by medical doctors, veterinarians and chiropractors across the world. We have machines in 13 Countries and we recently had a large animal veterinarian in the country of Cyprus.  That area was new to me!

BST:  What are the costs of the machines and the supplies that go with it?

Paulley:  Our machines that are recommended for large animals like bucking bulls start at $5,950 and got up to $20,950.  There are several price points in between and the machine you select is based on whether you will be using it for business or personal use.  All of our machines include at least two attachments and the Certification training program.  Magna Wave also has  a” try before you buy” rental program that is excellent for anyone who would like to use a machine for a longer period of time before purchasing.  I recommend anyone curious about Magna Wave and our technology to visit our website at https://www.magnawavepemf.com/locations/  And check out our map to find a MW Certified Practitioner near you so you can try a treatment and really feel why people and animals love Magna Wave !

This is what Magna Wave clients have to say about PEMF therapy.

Skye Larson: L5 Performance Therapy working a yearling futurity bull that was injured: After 3 treatments, he returned to compete fully recovered and continues to make his owners money. He has many accolades. They call him Big Kiwi. He is owned by Nothing But Try Ranch.

Lori Busch: Worked on the whole bull and big XL loops are great to treat the whole animal. But used the small loop also to treat the sore spots as well. Found most of the soreness in hips from kicking and some of them will hip themselves leaving the chute.

Dee Lonsberry: I work on 10-12 bulls in usually a 2-3 wk rotation. Some of my best clients are bucking stock! I’ve successfully rehabilitated 3, one being a futurity bull.

David Ginter: I have focused on the back end and hips, covering the stifle, and SI. This guy received one session a week for 6 weeks. He had 3 months off total and went on to perform at the Calgary Stampede. I was always amazed at the transformation from a nervous bull, to a calm relaxed bull enjoying a massage.

Farley Nash: I treat our bulls the night before for 30 to 40 minutes focusing on their back, shoulders and hocks, then reassess in the morning.

Kristina Pfaff: I usually treat the front end and lumbar area. These bulls are used to teach new riders how to ride or let them practice on different levels of bulls

Jessica Ragsdale: I did 40 minute treatments on the low setting 3x a week for 60 days. (It was not a new injury and he lost ALL muscle mass in the hind end from dragging). By 60 days he was able to retire a breeding bull and he is starting gaining his muscle again since he has been able to walk normal.

Tammy Whittecar Kanode: “I treat most of the bulls for maintenance purposes. I usually treat a day before a bucking event. Stock Contractors have seen better performance when their bulls buck. I have also treated bulls with stifle and hock injuries. After four treatments one bull was back to bucking after a stiff injury. I also treat bulls for soreness in their backs and shoulders. I treated 5 bulls for the Buckers Unlimited LLC Finals and these five placed in the top three in their divisions. I love working on them too!! I am working on a yearling bull that will actually let me put the small butterfly around his hock! His owner can pick up his leg and move it around.
